The "Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics in the Mekong Region" Project Holds First Planning Workshop

Mr. Friedel Sehlleier, Technical Director of the “Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics in the Mekong Region” project, presented the project’s overview.

The “Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics in the Mekong Region” project is organising the planning workshop during 21-22 April, 2016.

The workshop is aimed at 1) informing and defining the outline, approaches and main activities of the project 2) defining roles, tasks and cooperation areas of key stakeholders and 3) developing effective communication strategies for the partners.

The participants of the workshop included government officials, members of private sector as well as project partners and associates.

On the first day, the project’s overview was presented, followed by a presentation on Gap analysis of Freight Transport and Logistics in Mekong Region. The session ended with working group discussions on scope and focus of work packages, activities and approaches. Also, the participants analysed about fuel efficiency in Freight, dangerous goods transport, access to finance and awareness and policy actions.

Today is the final day of the workshop. The participants will continue the review of work scope and activities and make a presentation from yesterday’s discussions.

After the group work presentation, the work plan, responsibility and field of cooperation will be defined and communication strategies will be later developed.

The result of the workshop will be a framework for the next step of project’s implementation.
