Thailand Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Nationally Mitigation Action (RAC NAMA) Project organised a workshop on “Best Practice on Minimum Energy Performance Standards, High Energy Performance Standards, and Labelling (MEPS HEPS & Labelling) in RAC sector” at Vie Hotel Bangkok on 18 September 2017.

The objectives of the workshop are
– To highlight an importance and to discuss the current practice of MEPS HEPS & Labelling against international and regional best practices
– To demonstrate best practice from other countries to promote standardisation on RAC appliances
– To discuss and brainstorm involved parties from both government and private sectors on measurement and reliability

It was an honor to have Mr. Sarat Prakobchat, Director of Bureau of Energy Efficiency Promotion from the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), as workshop President, delivering an opening speech. Together with Mr. Tim Mahler, RAC NAMA Project Director, who also gave audiences welcoming speech. There are more than 30 participants from government and private sector such as the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the Electrical and Electronics Institute (EEI) and the Federation of Thai Industries (Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Club). The workshop was an important platform for knowledge sharing, from energy specialists to audiences and the audiences shared back their thoughts and suggestions on how to improve standard of MEPS and labelling of RAC appliances.

Based on ideas brainstormed from all parties, the RAC NAMA Project will work further on building up ways to standardise the MEPS and labelling according to international best practice.
