The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused worldwide disruption and hindered travel between countries.
To support the follow-on measures for regional learning and execute these at the national level during these uncertain times, the Regional Cooperation Programme for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in ASEAN (RECOTVET) and the Programme Reform of TVET (PRTVET) in Vietnam worked closely with Vietnam Vocational Education and Training Accreditation (VETA) to organise the Virtual Coaching Sessions for Regional Multipliers on National Implementation “Quality Assurance and Quality Development in TVET Institutions” from 25-27 June 2020.
In October 2019, six trainers and accreditors of Quality Assurance Departments from TVET colleges in Vietnam were nominated by VETA to participate in the Training for Multipliers on Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Development (QD) in TVET institutions in Bangkok. Following the training, the multipliers from Vietnam designed their national training plan and selected new and relevant topics such as Role of Management and Quality Assurance Approaches, the Tension between Process Workflows and the Input-Process-Output Dimensions of QA, Pedagogical Models for efficient learning and supporting a Quality Culture, Establishing Teamwork for a Successful Support of QD and QA, Innovative Teaching method and support of Quality based learning and Role and Principles of Cooperation with Stakeholders for training and for translation into Vietnamese language. The PRTVET in Vietnam has been supporting VETA in translating the training materials.
In order to support VETA in ensuring the quality of the national multipliers training, the Coaching Sessions for Regional Multipliers on National Implementation “Quality Assurance and Quality Development in TVET Institutions” were held and provided additional instruction focusing on training content and new methodologies on action-oriented learning and learner-centred approaches such as project-based learning for VETA Multipliers.
More than 30 representatives and accreditors of Quality Assurance Departments from TVET colleges in Vietnam attended the 3-day coaching sessions both in the physical training room and through online learning.
VETA’s management team is now planning to further analyse and update the content of the advanced training course on QA by integrating new content from the Training of Multipliers before conducting the training of other TVET personnel in 2020.
