PROJECT DURATION
March 1999 – February 2005
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Vocational Guidance Systems Project sought to address the imbalance between the labor demands of the Thai economy on the one hand and labor supply on the other. By offering information and counseling services to young people these should be enabled to make well informed, reasonable career decisions according to their strengths and interests which will benefit both themselves and the companies employing them.
The project had started to establish those counseling services in five employment offices (Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Bangkok Area 1, Chon Buri, Songkla) which were functioning as pilot centers and – after a successful testing phase – these services were gradually extended and introduced into 20 further provincial employment offices.
