Road Transport Department, Myanmar Ministry of Transport and Communication (MOTC) and Green Freight project have organized the first Training for Trainers on Eco and Defensive Driving at Road Transport Driving School, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 24-26 January 2017.
In cooperation with SCG Skill Development School, the training aiming to increase competency of local trainers in Myanmar on Eco and Defensive Driving, was conducted by SCGs’ master trainers and their Eco and Defensive Driving curriculum has been adapted to the Myanmar driving context. The training course includes 8 Steps Prepare for Driving off, Vehicle Controls and Equipment (Steering Wheel, Handbrake, Gear, Clutch), Vehicle Inspection (BEWAGON), Blind Spot Area, safety driving techniques, correct engine startup, the effect of engine idle free, effective gear usage, effective clutch usage, effective brake usage and steep hill driving. There were 15 participating local trainers from government driving schools in Nay Pyi Taw, Bakan, Mandalay, Central Road Transport, Road Transport Administrative Department, Chamber of Commerce in Myawadda, Myanmar International Freight Forwarders Association and Container Trucking Association.
The training was organised under SWITCH Asia project which is funded by European Union (EU) and German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ and partners.
