On 2 December 2020, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH co-organise activities in “WE CHANGE Climate Change” event as a heads up for the upcoming Thai Environment Day at the Helix Garden on the 5th floor of the EmQuartier shopping complex Bangkok. Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej, Secretary-General, ONEP, Mr. Reinhold Elges, Country Director of GIZ Thailand and Malaysia, preside over the event.

The event aims not only to raise awareness on the general knowledge of climate change but also on climate actions. It provides facts and figures, alternatives towards a greener lifestyle on our daily activities, climate policies in Thailand as well as the cooperation between Thailand Germany on such topics though climate talks, exhibits and fun games.

Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej said: “There’s no success for lone wolf in this climate change battle. The government sector may issue appropriate policies and regulations and the private sector may introduce sustainable business. But the citizen is the key driver who will truly shift the change. What everyone can do is to make a greener decision in every step made in your daily life. If we adopt a little change in harmony that will eventually turn into a new habit, I am certain that WE CHANGE, WORLD CHANGE is not far-reaching.”

Mr. Reinhold Elges, Country Director of GIZ Thailand and Malaysia quoted as saying, “GIZ is privileged and very happy to support the Thai partners and the German government in the joint effort and we will continue to work hard to identify innovative ways in which we can further support Thailand’s efforts to tackle climate change. This is the reason why we are here today – to forge and celebrate partnership at the public and the individual level. A strong partnership is the key to drive policy into action. Systematic change for a future worth living is our mission and we dedicate our work and energy to this accomplish it. I believe that if every single one of us is working together, walking on the same road, the same mission to achieve the same goal: we can and we will accomplish it.”

The event brings together diverse climate perspectives from policy making, social enterprise and entertainment industry in a talk “Climate Actions in Your Daily Life” with ONEP representative, Miss Aliza Napartivaumnuay (Alice), co-founder of Socialgiver, Miss Jarinporn Joonkiat (Toey) and Thanapob Leeratanakajorn (Tor).

It also offers a platform for eco-minded professionals in “Working and Living Inspired by Climate Change” where panelists talk about how they contribute to tackle the issue through their works. The panel includes Miss Kotchakorn Voraakhom, a landscape architect who won 2020 United Nations Global Climate Action Award for her designs of nature-based public park, Miss Kevalin Saksiamkul, co-founder of Cheww.co, a plastic-free toothpaste tablet company and Mr. Supapong Kitiwattanasak, a co-founder of Tuk Tuk Hop and MuvMi. In the evening, the audience is entertained by a talented singer, Singto Numchok, and his band.
