PROJECT DURATION
1976 – 1980
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
dent pests, and in particular rats and mice, are known to be among the most important plant pests in the tropics. Especially in rat years they destroy considerable amounts of the harvest. Moreover rats constitute a threat to hygiene (disease carriers). In this context the TG-RCP aimed at implementing efficient and sustainable measures to combat house and field rats with the overall goal the financial situation (less crop losses) and living conditions of the rural population. To this end 24 pest control units were established and several hundred technicians were trained who – acting as multipliers – disseminated their acquired knowledge to the primary target group of the farmers.
