Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Sirinthorn International Environmental Park Cha am, Phetchaburi province, Thailand on 27 June 2016 for opening ceremony of “The International Conference on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for the Sustainable Development Goals: Policy and Practice”, which was held during 27-29 June 2016.
In this special occasion, Mr. Roland Treitler, Project Director and a representative from GIZ Thailand, received the honorable gift from the HRH Princess Sirindhorn. It was a proud moment for all GIZ members. In addition, ECOSWat project took part in the exhibition to disseminate the knowledge and experience from the field. In the meantime, our partner, Department of water Resources exhibited the poster to demonstrate proposed Ecosystem–based Adaptation (EbA) measures in 3 pilot sites, in order to tackle floods and droughts. This dynamic shows the ownership approach from our institutional officials.
Respectively, GIZ hosted a dinner talk on the 27th June. Mr. Roland gave a keynote speech, where he emphasized on the climate change knowledge platform formulation and also networking development. Mr. Roland viewed that the two approaches are crucial for the future collaboration among national and international partners. Additionally, the Ecosystems and Economics concepts were introduced. He viewed that ecosystems was undervalued and we should work together to empower the importance of ecosystems by identifying their economic values.
