HISTORY

Southern Institute for Skill Development Songkhla (SISD)

01 June 2019
PROJECT DURATION
September 1980 – July 1991
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Southern Institute for Skill Development (SISD) was established by Thai-German Technical Cooperation in order to offer training possibilities both to young people leaving school and to the unemployed. The project’s activities included the construction of the institute’s buildings and workshops, curricula development and implementation, training of counterpart staff as well as activities to encourage the Thai industry to take an active part in the vocational training of young people. Since the project primarily targeted at improving the occupational situation of the less privileged strata of the population, who would otherwise hardly be able to finance vocational training, it contributed to a reduction of (individual) poverty and social disparities.
