Thai German Energy Dialogue

CONTEXT

International climate partnerships and energy dialogues play a crucial role in promoting bilateral cooperation and exchange on energy transition and economic development. As part of Germany’s efforts towards international climate action and policy recommendations, such initiatives support actions in three key areas: high-level policy dialogue; business-to-government exchange; and sharing experiences on technical and regulatory solutions.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Thai Ministry of Energy (MoEN) initiated the Thai-German Energy Dialogue (TGED) to support both countries’ high-level bilateral governmental and technical exchange, foster private sector cooperation and promote activities on agreed topics.

TGED is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Climate and Energy Partnership Programme (CEP).

OBJECTIVE

Thai-German Energy Dialogue (TGED) aims to promote the cooperation between Germany and Thailand through bilateral governmental and expert exchange on relevant topics around decarbonisation in the energy and industry sectors. It also seeks to foster private sector collaboration and enhance renewable energy security.

APPROACHES

The Thai-German Energy Dialogue (TGED) serves as an official energy dialogue platform between the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) of Germany and the Ministry of Energy (MoEN) of Thailand.

To promote collaboration in the energy sector and contribute to the mutual goals of both partner countries. TGED supports this cooperation by:

Facilitating policy and technical exchanges,
Encouraging private sector involvement,
Promoting innovative solutions in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and industry decarbonisation.
