One of the seven core activities in the TGP-EEDP project focuses on encouraging the uptake of the Building Energy Code (BEC) in Thailand. A first aim of this activity is to develop a financial incentive model that rewards building energy performances that go beyond the level of the Building Energy Code. This implies developing a set of improved BEC performance levels, or “Building Energy Labels”, that could receive financial remuneration. Another aim of this activity is to develop a successive timeline to tighten the enforced building energy code levels. This will help the building industry to have certainty about future building standard requirements. This investment certainty will help the construction market to prepare for future BEC levels and make the tightening of BEC levels a smooth process with a high certainty of achieving energy saving results. It is recommendable to combine the “Building Energy Labels” that receive financial remuneration, with the Building Energy Code levels that are used in the successive timeline to tighten the Building Energy Code.

On 18th March 2015 at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, the project organize a seminar on the topic of “Building Energy Labelling (Building No.5) to Support the Uptake of Building Energy Code” in order to achieve the following objectives:

• • To present and disseminate results of a study on the Thai Building Energy Code development timeline and building energy labelling and collect feedback
  • To discuss potential financial tools to support the uptake of Building Energy Code
