The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is organizing “SCP in South East Asia: Achievements and Advancement” to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 2nd September 2015. The event is organized to present the achievements of the Sustainable Consumption and Production for Low Carbon Economy – Low-Emission Public Procurement and Eco-labelling (SCP4LCE) project and launch the Advancing and Measuring Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) for a Low-Carbon Economy in Middle-Income and Newly Industrialized Countries (Advance SCP) project. Both projects are funded by Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany (BMUB).

SCP4LCE
The GIZ project team of SCP4LCE (“Sustainable Consumption and Production for Low Carbon Economy – Low-Emission Public Procurement and Eco-Labelling”) as well as the main project partners PCD (Pollution Control Department), TEI (Thailand Environment Institute), FTI (Federation of Thai Industries) and TGO (Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization)) are looking forward sharing the achievements and experiences of the last three years.
The main objectives of the project funded by BMUB (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany) were to expand existing eco-labels to cover climate protection criteria and to strengthen Green Public Procurement in Thailand and in other selected countries in Southeast Asia.

Advance SCP
Since 2012, based on German and international good practices, the IKI project “SCP4LCE” introduced climate criteria for both GPP and eco-labelling in Thailand. The experiences have been shared with other GPP and eco-labelling agencies of other countries in the region, e.g. in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and regional ASEAN+3 (China, Korea and Japan) networking workshops on “Green/Sustainable Public Procurement and Eco-labels”. The project “Advance SCP” is building up on the achievements and will focus on eight countries across three regions (Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America). Activities will focus on institutional strengthening, the design of integrated policy frameworks, technical capacity development, implementation of Sustainable Information systems and knowledge transfer.

Remarks
The GHG emissions of the event will be compensated by supporting a reforestation campaign at event venue.
