The workshop started with intensive theoretical background of the integration of drone into the Thai water management sector. The experts from Germany have introduced the drone state-of-the-art technology and continued with practical exercises of drone flying application and data collection in the field within Walailak University and in Tha Di sub-river basin.
Later on, the participants were separated into two groups. One group has experienced in flying the drone to take aerial and terrestrial pictures, while the other group learnt how to measure the GPS coordinates on the field along Tha Di river, Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
We have collected a lot of good quality, accurate and practical data. The participants have also practiced on the measurement devices and also to practice on drone flying. It was a very hands-on and interesting field trip during the workshop.
The output of a 2-day field trip is very valuable. On Friday, we may discuss on the quality of the data collection and the next steps on data processing with modeling software which will be taught in the next workshop. |
