On 8 October, GIZ Thailand, through the Nitric Acid Climate Action Group (NACAG) project, facilitated by UBE Chemicals (Asia) plc, delivered monitoring devices – including a nitrous oxide analyser, gas flow measurement equipment, and temperature monitoring instruments – to the Pollution Control Department (PCD), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE).
Thawatchai Saengkamsuk, Component Lead on Mitigation, Climate Coastal Marine and Biodiversity (CCMB), representing GIZ, led the handover, accompanied by Benjaphol Tangsripairoje, Executive Vice President of UBE Chemicals (Asia) plc. The equipment was received by Dr Ittipol Pawarmart, Head of the Automotive Emissions Laboratory, representing the PCD, and witnessed by Suriwassa Thanyanatthawit, Environmentalist Professional Level, representing the Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE). The PCD plans to use this equipment to maximise its effectiveness in pollution management and in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Thailand.
In addition, there was a discussion and an ideas exchange on strengthening collaboration among key stakeholders – including the PCD, the DCCE, private sector partners, and international cooperation agencies for potential approaches to enhance coordination and jointly drive efforts in pollution control and climate change mitigation.
