On 4 December 2024, Dr Timo Menniken, Country Director of GIZ Thailand, spoke at the Sustainability Forum 2025: Synergizing for Driving Business, organised by Bangkok Biz News at Paragon Hall.
His keynote, titled ‘Smart Technology for Sustainable Living,’ highlighted GIZ’s advanced tool, ‘TechDetector,’ which collects and assesses technologies, not only for their sustainability impact, but also for their Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and gender impact.
“In Thailand, we focus on all aspects of the green transition and the shift towards sustainability. Our mission is to support Thailand in transforming its economy and society towards a more environmentally friendly future. This includes projects in climate policy, plastic waste reduction, carbon market development, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and many other areas.”

Currently, GIZ is working towards sustainable development for people. In Thailand, GIZ provides support in various areas, and one of the upcoming projects is City Lab, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality in the energy, transport and industry sectors.
