This project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), launched by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Parliament. It is a continuation of the climate change policy collaboration between BMUB and the Thai Ministry for Natural Resources and the Environment (MoNRE) initiated in 2009.
The project builds upon the results achieved by the “Development and Implementation of Climate Policy” project supporting Thailand in the elaboration of Thailand’s Climate Change Master Plan as well as in the development of climate action plans in two pilot regions and municipalities.
OBJECTIVES AND APPROACHES
The project supports the Thai government in the development of an ambitious Climate Change Policy and its implementation on the national, provincial and local levels, thereby strengthening Thailand’s contributions to the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COPs).
- Connecting Climate Change and Energy Policies
- Connecting national, provincial and local development-oriented adaptation and mitigation strategies
- Connecting ongoing support projects
- Connecting MoNRE and BMUB in regular political dialogues
