Thailand agrees to support a HFCs freeze date of 2025 and RAC NAMA project presents how to overcome phase-down and move to natural refrigeration solution.

In the 28th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol held in October 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda, the agreement to amend the Protocol to include hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as part of its ambit has been reached. The decision will start an ambitious and legally binding phase down process for HFCs worldwide, including Thailand. A freeze date for HFC use has been set for 2024 for Thailand.

Last week during 27th – 28th October 2016, the Thailand RAC NAMA Project organized a seminar on the topic of climate friendly and energy efficient cooling. The seminar aims to disseminate knowledge on how to limit the impact of the refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) sector on climate change as well as on energy use by using available natural refrigerant alternatives.
