BACK TO PROJECT

On 29 July, 2016, Mr. Stefan Helming, GIZ Country Director for Thailand and Malaysia, visited the King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). The institution was originally known as Thai-German Technical School and was the first project under Thai-German Technical Cooperation. The objectives of Mr. Helming’s visit are to introduce himself as the new GIZ Country Director of Thailand and to see the possibilities for future cooperation. Mr. Helming was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Teravuti Boonyasopon, the President of KMUTNB, Assoc. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Suchart Siengchin, Vice President for Research and Academic Promotion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phongsak Keeratiwintakorn, Director of Thai-German Dual Education and e-Learning Development Institute (TGDE) and Dr. Chanin Joochim, Head of Mechatronics Engineering Technology.

A tour through different faculties and departments within KMUTNB was organized to illustrate the development of the university since its establishment as Thai-German Technical School in 1959. The core approach of Germany in practice-oriented education is continued to make KMUTNB one of the top Technical Universities in the country.

Apart from being Technical University, KMUTNB is also strongly involved in Vocational Education in Thailand. They are working closely with the Government and governmental institutions in improving the Thai Vocational Education System. In this connection, the involvement of GIZ in providing technical expertise and strengthening the process development of the Vocational Education System are perceived as additional value for further collaboration.
