SCP in Southeast Asia: Achievements and Advancement

The project Sustainable Consumption and Production for Low Carbon Economy– Low-Emission Public Procurement and Eco-Labelling (SCP4LCE) is funded by the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). Since June 2012 GIZ has implemented the project in close cooperation with Thai key partner organizations namely Pollution Control Department (PCD), Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), The Federation of Thai Industry (FTI), and Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO).
The main objectives of the project were to expand existing eco-labels to cover climate protection criteria and to strengthen green public procurement in Thailand and in other selected countries in Southeast Asia which were Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines. Throughout 3 years the SCP4LCE project organized the activities which focused on Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Eco-Labelling (EL), both domestic and regional events/workshops. On 2nd September 2015, the project organized the event “SCP in Southeast Asia: Achievements and advancement” at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa in Thailand for sharing the achievements and experiences of the last three years.
At the same time, the project “Advance SCP” was launched to keep SCP4LCE momentum. The project “Advance SCP” is building up on the achievements and will focus on institutional strengthening, the design of integrated policy frameworks, technical capacity development, implementation of Sustainable Information Systems and knowledge transfer.
The conference was successfully executed with 88 participants from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and guest speakers from Germany, Japan, and Korea.
