Sustainable consumption and production practitioners and policy experts list out potential Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions

Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) practitioners and policy experts from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand attended a regional workshop on SCP-related Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (SCP NAMAs) on 26-28 April in the Philippines that focused on potential NAMAs.

The workshop was designed to provide knowledge on SCP NAMA concepts, approaches and methodologies for planning, formulating and implementing NAMAs. It covered NAMA basics, key elements of documentation, NAMA development process, NAMA design and identifying potential financing sources. During the workshop, individual country working groups developed national ideas on the following topics and drafted concept notes:

•  Identifying NAMA options
•  Evaluation and prioritization of NAMA options
•  Defining stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities
•  Identification of potential financing sources
•  Concept note development

On the last day, the participants presented their drafts and presented a list of potential NAMAs including:

•  Integrated NAMA for selected household and office appliances (enabling environment and capacities for energy-efficient and low-carbon supply chain
•  NAMA on greening the cement industry of PH
•  Capacity Building and Monitoring and Evaluation of Green Public Procurement
•  Energy Efficiency Building
•  Government Green Procurement
•  Smart Building Initiative
•  Vertical Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management
•  Green Supply Chain
•  Energy Performance Certification Scheme (EPC)

The workshop was organized by Department of Trade and Industry, Philippines and Advance SCP.
