Energy Efficiency Plan
In the building sector, highest energy is consumed for air-conditioning. Constructors and building managers are often from different companies, which makes coordination difficult. The interest in rapid and cheap building is very high. Especially the operating costs are transferred to building users via flat rates. Consequently, there is neither motivation of users on energy saving nor a demand on energy efficient living. The Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) was commissioned by Ministry of Energy at the end of 2010 to establish an additional energy efficiency plan. The plan aims to reduce the energy intensity in industrial and commercial sectors 25% until 2030. |
Objectives and ApproachesThis project shall contribute to the energy efficiency policy of Thai government. Promotion instruments will be developed with the support of international best practices and experiences. It is expected that the measures will also create jobs in the energy sector. Furthermore, SMEs will be strengthened through competition, energy demand and living costs of household will decrease as well. The project is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and will commence in early 2012. ContactMr. Torsten Fritsche
